Student Success Statement/ Reflection

Student Success Statement

“To be great – concentrate.”

-Orson Swett Marden

Reflection

Everyone has a different definition for greatness. For most of us, we wish to be great. It isn’t always easy to become great. It takes hard work, and many obstacles get it the way. The way to reach greatness is to stay focus and concentrate. This is a great quote that truly expresses the idea to achieve greatness. One should concentrate on what it is that they want. When concentrated they shouldn’t let anything distract them from their goal, and is more likely to then reach it.

Student Success Statement/ Reflection

Student Success Statement

“When an archer misses the mark, he turns and looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bull-eye is never the fault of the target. To improve your aim, improve yourself.”

Reflection

We all have goals and when we don’t reach them that mean that we need to be better to do so. One has to improve themselves, maybe more practice and harder work. If we improve ourselves we can get closer to our goals until reaching them. We can’t put the blame on anything else but our selves. We are the reason why we do or don’t reach a goal.

5 Tips for Staying Motivated Tips 3-5

5 Tips for Staying Motivated

Tips 3-5

3. Set Attainable Goals

If you are having trouble writing a 25-page paper for class because it seems like such a big job, don’t focus on that final number. Break the paper down and consider each section of your paper individually. You can handle any project in small chunks.

4. Find a Social Support network

Create a group of people around you who want to help you succeed. Mentors can be teachers or family friends who can give you guidance and help you develop new skills. Counselors can help you with planning your courses and starting to explore colleges. You can also reach out to friends and peers who can motivate you by listening and sharing ideas.

5. Acknowledge Your Accomplishments

Give yourself a quick reward when you complete an assignment or task. Take a walk, send an email, get a snack. Then move on to the next project.

Part 6

Success in AP can also help you in other ways. AP helps you stand out in the admission process and offers the opportunity to learn from some of the most inspiring teachers in the world. Learn more about the AP Program.

For More Help in Choosing Courses

Use College Search to look up a specific college’s academic requirements to be4 sure you are on track to attend the college of your choice.

If you have concerns about your class schedule or program in school, set up a meeting with your school counselor, teacher or advisor. There are many resources to help you with this process and with achieving your personal, college and career goals. Without goals, you meander all sorts of directions. Goals give you purpose, direction, enthusiasm, and passion for that which you really desire. Define your goals deliberately, evaluate your goals often and make changes as necessary, work hard to achieve your goals, and continue working hard until you actually do reach your goals.

“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”

-Thomas Carlyle

Reflection

I strongly agree with Carlyle. A ship needs a rudder to more and get to its destination. Without it, it will stay in place and not move. An individual will never reach their destination without a goal. He needs to know where he wants to go to get there. His goal is like the rudder; it will push him to his destination.

“In life as in football, you won’t go far, unless you know where the goalposts are.”

-Arnold Glasgow

Reflection

The only way you can go far in life is if you know what you want. You can’t reach goal if you don’t have one. You have to stay focus and know exactly what is it that you want so that you can reach it no matter what obstacles you face. If you don’t know what you want in life then it’s very difficult to get much done.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens Habit 2

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens

Habit 2

Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind

If teens aren’t clear about where they want to end up in like, about their values, goals, and how they stand for, they will wander, waste time, and be tossed to and fro by the opinions of others. Help your teen create a personal mission statement which will act as a road map and direct and guide his decision-making process.

“Keep your eyes on the prize.” Determine your desired prize and don’t quit until you have realized the achievement of your prize. Then set another prize, another goal, or desire that you would really like to achieve. Begin with the achievement of your prize in mind. Visualize and then realize. Strt by having a target in mind; know where you are going.

One pre or goal you definitely need to establish for yourself is the prize of an honorable graduation from high school- that you will receive your diploma honestly and with dignity- that you earned it with perfect honesty.
