Jocy.

I am an 11th grader who attends Linda Marquez High School. I am a hard worker at school. I try to be as involved as I can, such as being in part of school clubs. I am also in the school's varsity basketball team. I love basketball, Thai tea, and Italian food. I hope to attend UCLA after graduating high school. I wish to have a successful career as a doctor. I am a very optimistic person. I was blessed with the best people in the world, which i am lucky to call my family and friends. I wish nothing but the best for myself, and i am excited for the future!

“Education is a marathon – not a sprint”

-Anon

Reflection

I truly believe this is a great quote and I strongly agree with it. In a marathon one has to keep a fast but steady pace. If you try to sprint in a marathon, you won’t get so far. It is very similar to education. One cannot get an education with only one day of studying all day. It takes years and you learn a bit at a time.

“Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking our potential.”

-Liane Cordes

Reflection

It does not matter how smart one may be or the countless opportunities one is given that will expose their potential. Effort takes you way farther than any strength. What is intelligence good for it you are not challenged into improving and doing your part by putting effort? It is only when one puts effort into everything they do is when they can realize their true potential.  An example of this would be that one may be the smartest kid in a high school campus but if they don’t constantly put effort into school they won’t ever know what their potential is and won’t get very far. It is a good brain thrown to waste.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens Habit 7 Part 1

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens

Habit 7

Part 1

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

Teens should never get too busy living to take time to renew them. When teens “sharpen the saw” they are keeping their personal self-sharp so that they can better deal with life. It means regularly renewing and strengthening the four key dimensions of life – body, mind, heart, and soul.

1)    Body, Ear wholesome foods, fruits, vegetables, legumes. Avoid illegal drugs, smoking, alcohol, tobacco products, tattooing. Exercise regularly and effectively. Get plenty of rest at night. Get to bed early at night and get up early each morning. “Early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise.

2)    Mind. Think positively. Read. Study. Think. Analyze. Seek to read a good book each month. Then each week. Ask intelligent questions. Observe. Develop your mind through positive “self-talk”.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT!

“My strength is as the strength of ten because my heart is pure.”

-Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Reflection: I believe this is a very strong and true statement. Alfred claims that his strength is equal to ten people. He says this is because he keeps a pure heart. I believe keeping a pure heart is the most important thing in life. Having a pure heart is something that is valuable and everyone should take pride in. because of that, Alfred feels with a great amount of strength. It takes a lot from someone to keep their heart pure, and not anyone can do it. One is strong by keeping a pure heart.
