Very few students enjoy taking tests. Yet functioning well under pressure is crucial to your future success. Try thinking of the pressure of testing as practice for the work worlds own explosive situations. You could someday find yourself meeting tight deadlines, speaking with irate customers, wielding a scalpel or handling dangerous chemicals.

The best way to curtail pressure and to even eliminate it is to prepare. Applying the motto “Be Prepared” holds true first time and every time.

Prepare for that test, and you won’t worry about it. In fact, it will be your chance to shine, to reveal the hard work you have put into preparing for the test. You will be rewarded for the effort you have thrust into your studies. Preparation removes fear. When you are prepared, you will not fear. Preparation helps you maintain your cool under pressure. Preparation generates energy and enthusiasm; therefore, prepare and your coolness under pressure is sure to abound.

Take Advantage of Any Free Time

If you have a study period or a long bus ride, use the time to review notes, prepare for an upcoming class or start your homework. Flash cards are a great learning tool. They are easy to make, easy to handle, and are a marvelous tool to help you learn and remember anything. Punch a hole in the upper left corner of each index card and connect the stack of your flash cards with a ring. Then the cards are bound and not flopping around. Flash cards bound like this act like a small book with pages. You can even have separate ringed stacks for each subject. WHATEVER YOU WANT TO REMEMBER, PUT IN ON A CARD.

Study with a Friend

Get together with a friend and classmates to quiz each other, compare notes and predict test questions. Consider joining a study group.

Communicate

If you have concerns about the amount or type of homework you have, you may want to talk to your family, teachers or counselor. They can help you understand how much time you need to allot for homework and how to manage your tasks.

Celebrate Your Achievements

Reward yourself for hitting milestones, or doing something well.

Although very few students love homework, it does serve a purpose. Homework helps you:

·         Reinforce what you’ve learned during the day.

·         Build study habits that are essential in college.

·         Prepare for our classes.

·         Get a sense of program.

·         Here are some tips to help you deal with homework more efficiently and effectively.

Set the Mood

Create a good study area with everything you need (for example, a calculator). If you don’t have a quiet place at home, try your school or local library.

Know Where to Begin

Make a list of everything you need to do, and note all deadlines. Do the more difficult assignments first, so you don’t have to face them at the end.

Study at the Same Time Every Day

Even if you don’t have homework every night, use the time to review notes. If sitting down to work is part of your normal routine, you’ll approach it with less dread. Also, you’ll become a pro at using time productively.

I believe my spring break went by way too quickly. I definitely feel like I needed the break from school. I am not used to this school years schedule and I am used to having very long break. I enjoyed my break although I did feel stressed about all the AP homework that was assigned. The first thing I did was catch up on my sleep. I worked out a lot, which is a way for me to relax. I went out a couple of times with my family for dinner. I did wait until the last moment to finish up homework, which I regretted. Thankfully I got to finish on time. My parents when out of town for the weekend and I was practically left alone. My brother works and I don’t get to see him until he gets home very late. I spend Easter alone watching movies. I did not to anything that was exciting but I definitely enjoyed it because it gave me a break of everything.

School Comes First

Schoolwork, including homework and studying for tests, should always be your top priority. MacGowan cautions students who do decide to work, “If you are rushing through your assignments…or not studying enough for tests because of work, it’s time to cut back or quit and find a less time-consuming job.”

My great academic success: in my principles of marketing class, we had to come uo with a new product and sell it. My group ended up with a couple supposedly bad students according to our teacher since they were the last ones picked. In the end, they helped out more than needed since I was team leader I assigned them certain pieces of the project that became solely their responsibility. Delegating work always helps since it allows a group member individuals work without separating the group.

English, math, foreign language tips: Math basically just takes practice. I always tell students to take a blank piece of paper and write everything you know about what you’ve learned or what you’re studying fro in the class. If you don’t remember everything or start drawing blanks, then you need to study more and review your notes. Notes card work really well for foreign language Her are my final words of wisdom for students who want to get better grades in college: Go to class, make friends with people in class just in case you’re absent, and remember that you should want to learn.
