Jocy.

I am an 11th grader who attends Linda Marquez High School. I am a hard worker at school. I try to be as involved as I can, such as being in part of school clubs. I am also in the school's varsity basketball team. I love basketball, Thai tea, and Italian food. I hope to attend UCLA after graduating high school. I wish to have a successful career as a doctor. I am a very optimistic person. I was blessed with the best people in the world, which i am lucky to call my family and friends. I wish nothing but the best for myself, and i am excited for the future!

It’s Online, but is it On Target? Part 2

It’s Online, but is it On Target?

Part 2

Research with Attitude

Conduct your research with the attitude of a skeptic. As you examine websites for clues that they’re trust worthy, ask those questions:

·         Who wrote the Web page? If you can’t identify the individual or organization responsible for the information, don’t use it.

·         What are the author’s qualifications for writing on the subject?

·         As the article passed through an editorial process designed to ensure quality and accuracy?

·         What is the website’s purpose? Look for motives

·         --Like selling products or winning votes – that could result in biased or incomplete information.

·         Is the information accurate? Is it up-to-date?

·         Where did the author get this information?

Student Success Statement/ Reflection

Student Success Statement

“Tell me what is right and I will fight for it.”

-Woodrow Wilson

Reflection

I believe that President Wilson did that mean “fight” as in physically fighting but more as in standing up for what is right. Taking action to do what is right and always choosing the right. He mentions how just let him know are right and he will reinforce it. I believe that this is something that we should all follow. When something is right then one should stand up for it even through the one else does it doesn’t matter to be the only one standing.

Balancing High School and Part-Time Work Part 3

Balancing High School and Part-Time Work

Part 3

Brad MacGowan, of the Career Center at Newton North High School in Massachusetts, thinks that working can be a valuable part of a student’s life, if taken on responsibility.” you can derive a great deal from working, considerably more than just money,” he says. “in most cases, you can acquire a nice dose of discipline and a whole new set of skilled and experiences.” In addition, your supervisor may be willing to write a strong college recommendation for you.

School Comes First

Schoolwork, including homework and studying for tests, should always be your top priority. MacGowan cautions students who do decide to work, “If you are rushing through your assignments…or not studying enough for tests because of work, it’s time to cut back or quit and find a less time-consuming job.”

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens Habit 2

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens

Habit 2

Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind

If teens aren’t clear about where they want to end up in like, about their values, goals, and how they stand for, they will wander, waste time, and be tossed to and fro by the opinions of others. Help your teen create a personal mission statement which will act as a road map and direct and guide his decision-making process.

“Keep your eyes on the prize.” Determine your desired prize and don’t quit until you have realized the achievement of your prize. Then set another prize, another goal, or desire that you would really like to achieve. Begin with the achievement of your prize in mind. Visualize and then realize. Strt by having a target in mind; know where you are going.

One pre or goal you definitely need to establish for yourself is the prize of an honorable graduation from high school- that you will receive your diploma honestly and with dignity- that you earned it with perfect honesty.
