It’s Online, but Is It on Target? Part 1

It’s Online, but Is It on Target?

Part 1

Using the Web Wisely

Thanks to the Web, information is easy to find. However, it’s also easy to post something online. Anyone can do it.

You’ve probably used the Internet to do research for a paper, toy help you decide which product to buy, or to form an opinion about current events. Looking up information online is fast and convenient t. But when you do online research, it’s important to find sites you can trust.

Many websites claim to have the facts, but are full of errors. Other present information in a biased way – they only give one side of an argument. How can you tell a reliable source from an unreliable one?

Also, it is critical that you post online only that which is decent and appropriate, never anything pornographic, vulgar, indecent, out of taste, untruthful, or obscene. Post those things that will make a good name for you and your organization, that will promote goodwill and be of benefit to the world.

Student Success/ Reflection

Student Success Statement
“Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the (3) magic keys to living your life with integrity.”
-W. Clement Stone
Reflection
There are three simple steps that need to be taken to live with integrity. Just because they are simple does not mean that they are easy. One has to have the courage to say no. when someone tries to influence you into doing bad, you have to be courageous and deny the offer. It takes nerve to say no, but if you put your mind to it, it is possible. One also has to be brave enough to face the truth. This means that you have to be realistic about any circumstances. When you face a situation you have to accept the truth, because from there you can decide on doing what is right. The last thing that is required to live life with integrity is choosing the right. ALWAYS choose the right and make the right decisions. With these three keys one can live with complete honesty and honor.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens Habit 7 Part 1

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens

Habit 7

Part 1

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

Teens should never get too busy living to take time to renew them. When teens “sharpen the saw” they are keeping their personal self-sharp so that they can better deal with life. It means regularly renewing and strengthening the four key dimensions of life – body, mind, heart, and soul.

1)    Body, Ear wholesome foods, fruits, vegetables, legumes. Avoid illegal drugs, smoking, alcohol, tobacco products, tattooing. Exercise regularly and effectively. Get plenty of rest at night. Get to bed early at night and get up early each morning. “Early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise.

2)    Mind. Think positively. Read. Study. Think. Analyze. Seek to read a good book each month. Then each week. Ask intelligent questions. Observe. Develop your mind through positive “self-talk”.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens Habit 5

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens

Habit 5

5. Seek First to Understand, and then to be Understood

Because most people don’t listen very well, one of the great frustrations in life is that many don’t feel understood. This habit will ensure your teen learns the most important communication skill there is: active listening.

Why is this habit the key to communications? It’s because the deepest need of the human heart is to be understood. Everyone watns to be respected and valued fro who they are- a unique, one-of-a-kind, never-to-be cloned individual. People won’t expose their soft middles unless they feel genuine love and understanding. Once they feel it, however, they will tell you more than you may want to hear. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

Listen with your eyes, heart, and ears. 7 percent of communication is contained in the words we use. There rest comes from body language (53 percent) and how we say words. or the tone and feeling reflected in our voice(40 percent).

Most people are eager to talk and had rather talk than listen. We have one mouth and two ears. This means we should listen twice as much as we talk. We actually learn more while listening rather than when we talk. Learn to listen and listen to learn. Listen, really listen, for understanding.

Seek first to understand then to be understood-LISTEN.

Student Success Sattement/ Reflection

Student Success Statement

“The only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habits. Good habits are the key to all success. Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure. This, the first law I will obey, which precedeth all other is- I will form good habits and become their slaves.”

-Og Mandino

Reflection

This statement is implying good habits will make you successful. Those who have failed are because of their bad habits. One has to practice good habits so they can go far and reach their goals. We should all practice good habits to be as successful as we each can be. An example of having good habits would be to work hard and finish all work. That would lead you into doing well in school or in a job. Good habits should be practiced in any environment. By working hard in school you will succeed and graduate. In a job you may get a promotion.
